Matthew 2

This morning, we will be studying the 2nd chapter in the Gospel of Matthew. We will be looking at the Maji and getting introduced to Herod the Great. We will also stop a little early so that we can partake of Communion together as a family.

Don't you just love the Christmas Nativity scene? Sometimes we see it on Christmas cards, live nativities at churches, some of you may actually have a nativity scene at home with Jesus as a baby in the manger, and the Shepherds all around, and the three Wisemen bringing their gifts to the stable to give to Jesus. It is very pretty, but biblically inaccurate. 

This morning we will be looking at some text that will demonstrate the inaccuracies of the Nativity scene portrayed in Christmas cards and nativity scenes. Now, before I get cards and letters from folks complaining that I ruined the Christmas picture for them; just know that I too think the Nativity picture is a beautiful depiction, I too have a nativity scene at home, but....I think it is important to get a real and accurate biblical picture of the early years of our Savior's life on this earth.
